Sur Sangeet organized 'Saaz Aur Awaaz' - a musical charity Bollywood night on the 23rd of August 2008. Soumitra was accompanied by Rucha Lange a very famous singer from Sydney. Saaz - an extremely talented and successful band from Sydney provided live orchestra. Samrat Sen and Manish Raj - the MC's of the night kept the crowd entertained with their humour. Vikas Randev also sang a couple of songs in the show.
Close to 200 people attended the program and thoroughly enjoyed the night. It was very encouraging to see people from various backgrounds turn up for the concert - we had Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Fijians and even Australians who turned out and enjoyed the night. A variety of songs were performed on the night - from the chulbuli 'Jhumroo' of Kishore Kumar to the latest Shreya hit 'Yeh Ishq Haye'. The evening went along very smoothly and reached the peak at the end with very fast numbers. Everyone was on their feet and enjoyed dancing to the fast tunes at the end. We sincerely hope all of you enjoyed the night thoroughly. Thanx for all your support. All proceeds of the function were donated to the Australian Cancer Council.

It was a well organised and well attended event. I enjoyed the flow of the evening and the choice of songs as an audience. Soumitra rendition of the Kishore songs were brilliant and Rucha's voice was pleasant. The band supported the singers well. It was a lovely program. Very enjoyable! The song selection was excellent. The orchestra was fantastic. Both singers were really good. I am writing just to congratulate you and your band’s superb performance last Saturday night. It is so pleasing to know that we have such good talent right here in Canberra.
